The mission of Central New York Academy Charter School (CNYACS) is to improve the quality of life for students in the greater Syracuse community through education, mentorship, core values, and service. In alignment with the mission of the 100 Black Men of Syracuse, we are committed to providing a rigorous, student-centered education that empowers learners to achieve academic excellence, develop strong character, and become engaged members of their community.
Our Goal
Our goal is to cultivate a learning community where academic excellence, character development, and civic engagement are at the forefront of student success. We aim to foster a culture of mentorship, where students receive guidance from educators and community leaders who inspire them to excel in school and beyond. By embedding core values into every aspect of the school environment, we will ensure that students graduate with the skills, confidence, and sense of responsibility needed to make meaningful contributions to society.

CNYACS will provide all students with high-quality educational opportunities that are directly aligned with the New York State Next Generation Standards across all content areas. Through a rigorous and student-centered approach, we will ensure that every learner receives the tools, support, and encouragement needed to reach their full potential. What Makes Us Different
At CYNA, we go beyond traditional education by blending music, art, dance, and foreign language into every student’s learning experience. Our structured, disciplined environment fosters both academic and personal growth, while our progressive, project-based approach makes learning hands-on and engaging.
We emphasize core values and character building daily, ensuring students develop strong life skills. With STEAM exploration, a mandatory uniform policy, and community-based health and wellness activities, we create a well-rounded, supportive environment.
Parents benefit from our Parent Resource Center, while students gain extra support through mentorship, after-school programs, and summer activities in partnership with 100 Black Men of Syracuse.

At Central New York Academy Charter School (CYNA), we are committed to fostering a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment where students can excel. Our Student/Parent Handbook serves as the foundation for our Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
To further support student growth, we provide mentorship opportunities through partnerships with 100 Black Men of Syracuse and other community organizations, helping students build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community.
Addressing Learning Gaps from COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted education worldwide, leaving many students with unfinished learning. At Central New York Academy Charter School (CYNA), we are committed to helping students catch up without lowering expectations. We will stick to grade-level content with rigorous instruction, focusing on depth over speed to ensure true understanding. Our approach prioritizes the most important concepts while keeping every student included and engaged. By identifying and addressing learning gaps, we provide targeted support where needed. Most importantly, we recognize that all students share challenges from this crisis, and we foster a supportive, united learning environment to help them move forward together.
